For Adults 65 and older

EyeCare America
Offers free comprehensive eye exams and up to 1 year of care for eligible individuals ages 65+ and those at increased glaucoma risk.

For Children

All Children See
Connects children in need of comprehensive eye exams with local providers. Eligibility is based on vision screening outcomes. Phone: (615) 649-3079.

InfantSEE
Provides free eye assessments for infants aged 6–12 months by participating optometrists.

For Veterans

VA Vision Care
Eligible veterans with VA healthcare benefits receive routine exams, advanced vision care, and rehabilitation services. Contact your local VA Medical Center. Find a VA Center near you.

For All Ages

  • Your doctor and eye doctor: Request referrals to low-cost eye care specialists.
  • Community Health Centers: Many offer free or reduced-fee vision care. Find a nearby health center.
  • Local Colleges or Universities: Schools with optometry or ophthalmology programs may provide low-cost exams.
  • Medical Schools: University-based medical clinics often offer discounted services.
  • Social Workers: Ask local hospitals for financial assistance help.
  • Local Pharmacies: Inquire about medication discounts and home delivery.

American Glaucoma Society: AGS Cares

Provides free white canes for personal use.

New Eyes
Provides eyeglasses for low-income individuals through a voucher system.​

VSP Eyes of Hope
Offers no-cost eye exams and glasses for children and adults with limited income and no routine vision insurance (income up to 200% of Federal Poverty Level).​ Apply via school nurse, community partner, or visit vspvision.com/eyes-of-hope. Note: Only one voucher can be used every 12 months. Disaster relief gift certificates may be available in certain areas.

Insurance and Medicare

Medicare covers glaucoma tests once every 12 months for high-risk individuals; also helps cover glaucoma medications under Part D for qualifying patients. The 2026 deductible for Part B is $283.
