“Data-driven AI Innovations in Glaucoma Research”
This one-hour webinar explores the role of artificial intelligence in advancing glaucoma research. It features a presentation by Karthik Shekhar, PhD, a leader in computational biology whose work bridges neuroscience, immunology, single-cell genomics, genetics, and machine learning, with a special focus on visual systems. Dr. Shekhar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Berkeley and Faculty Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, shares insights into how AI-driven approaches are transforming our understanding of glaucoma, leading to new diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. The webinar was moderated by Shane Liddelow, PhD, from the Departments of Neuroscience and Ophthalmology at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Liddelow, who serves as a Scientific Advisor for the Glaucoma Research Foundation, guides the conversation on how data science and AI are shaping the future of vision research.
