____
Nancy S. Forster is an active community-service volunteer and joined the Glaucoma Research Foundation Board in May 2019. She currently serves on the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Nancy began her career in technology, with 14 years at IBM, first as a systems engineer, then in marketing as one of the first seven women in a sales force of 5,000. Later, she became a strategic-planning specialist for the introduction of technology into large corporations.
For the next several years, she led her own consultancy, Forster & Associates Consulting, LLC, providing strategic planning, technology planning, and research for a variety of major corporations. That led to her conducting research for four years at the MIT Sloan School of Business in strategic planning methodologies.
Currently, Nancy is on the Board of Directors at the California College of Arts (CCA), on the Getty Conservation Council, and is deeply involved with SFMOMA.
In the past, Nancy served nine years as an advisory council member for Stanford University’s Art Initiative. She is also the Vice Chair of the Bald Eagle Association in Park City, Utah. Nancy has held multiple community board positions in the areas of education, art, social services, and the environment. Nancy is also an avid hiker and skier, whose other interests include travel, photography, mentoring youth, contemporary art, Asian antiquities, Roman glass, and conservation.
She earned her BA from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, cum laude. Forster has lived in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and Boston, and she now resides in San Francisco, Carmel, and Park City with her husband, R. Patrick. Nancy and Pat chaired GRF’s 2019 Annual Glaucoma 360 Gala, raising a record $660,000 to advance the Foundation’s research and education programs.
