Bill Dash was a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, and friend, who enriched our lives every day. Bill was truly one of a kind. He was exceptionally kind, caring, and a true gentleman. He had the best stories, sense of humor, was an unbelievable cook, historian, avid reader, lover of music, loved playing cards, and competitive athlete.

Above all, he loved his wife Janet, his children, grandchildren, and his dogs more than anything in the world. When life threw him a curveball of losing his eyesight, he never complained. He kept trying to find a solution to help restore his eyesight to see his family one more time.

Bill Dash Treatment Accelerator Fund

Established by his family, the Bill Dash Treatment Accelerator Fund will support a new initiative to speed the transformation of groundbreaking laboratory discoveries into life-changing therapies for glaucoma patients.

Researchers funded by Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF) have identified three potentially effective neuroprotective treatments that can slow or stop the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and their axons, despite high Intraocular pressure (IOP) that would normally destroy them. Unfortunately, Bill’s vision could not be saved with the current treatments available today. But safe and effective neuroprotective treatments will revolutionize the treatment of glaucoma that does not yet have a cure and has the potential to protect vision for more than 100 million patients around the world.

The first focus of the Treatment Accelerator Initiative will be a gene therapy, identified by a member of GRF’s Catalyst for a Cure consortia, Yang Hu, MD, PhD from Stanford University.

The Bill Dash Treatment Accelerator Fund will support pre-clinical and first-in human studies to demonstrate safety and efficacy. This important initiative will increase the speed and probability of the development of novel and near-term solutions for glaucoma patients.

Your special gift will honor Bill’s life and legacy, and advance new sight-saving treatments to help patients save their sight. Donations are tax-deductible and the family will be notified of your thoughtful tribute.
